NHRC Chairman Nasima Begum ndc attended the virtual meeting on "Challenges of the Overseas Women Migrant Workers and way forward" as the Chief Guest on 16 June 2020. The meeting was organized by BNSK. In her speech hon’ble Chairman said “Currently the whole world has already experienced a devastating situation due to COVID-19 Pandemic. It is still on and even if it goes away, the residual impact would last long. The normal life style of people have changed and we are trying to fight against a very hostile invisible enemy. The situation has gone worsened for the migrant workers those who are staying thousands of miles away from family and home. Specially this pandemic is disproportionately affecting women migrant workers, who are already exposed to multiple intersectional discrimination based on race, ethnicity nationality age and migration status.”

The Chairman recalled the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (A/HRC/17/31) that talked about the operational principles of 'protect, respect and remedy framework' for migrant workers as it guides the roles and responsibilities of States to protect human rights.
