Reincarnate II: Regional Art & Film Festival

NHRCB Chairman inaugurated  Reincarnate II, Regional Art & Film Festival organized by Bandhu Social Welfare Society on 27 March 2019 at Bangladesh Mohila Somity, Dhaka. This initiative is committed to upholding health & human rights of gender diverse population in the country & South Asian Region. The program was supported by British High Commission, Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives of High Commission of Canada, Embassy of Switzerland and USAID Bangladesh.

Speaking as the Chief Guest NHRCB Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque said, “This exhibition will help us to know the talents of gender diverse population. Government is committed to ensure rights of the people of Bangladesh irrespective of gender. We appreciate that government has recognized third gender. However, discrimination against them still prevails. Thus, we submitted a draft of Anti-discrimination act to government and got support from government to enact it. We urge government to enact Anti-discrimination Act as soon as possible.”

Hon’ble Chairman Acknowledged Bandhu’s contribution in empowering third gender community. He also said that in recent past third gender community could not cast their votes but in 2018 election 13 transgender got nomination and took part in election. It indicated that they were not only casting their votes but also getting nominations.
