Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Chairman

Dr. Mizanur Rahman is a Professor and former Chairman of the Law Department at the University of Dhaka. He joined the University as an Assistant Professor in 1989. Recently Mr. Rahman has been awarded ‘Professor N.R. Madhava Menon Best Law Teacher Award 2010,’ which is considered to be the most prestigious law teacher award in the SAARC region. He has published a significant number of articles in research journals at home and abroad.

Mr. Rahman is the founding coordinator of Professional Legal Education in Bangladesh, the continuing legal education programme of the Bangladesh Bar Council. He is a recognised pioneer in introducing and designing a range of innovative and practical courses on human rights, for the Bangladesh Bar Council. He has been a consultant to a range of national and international organisations including Government of Bangladesh, The World Bank, UNDP, UNICEF and ILO. He has also served as the visiting Professor at several universities in Asia, Europe, the Americas and in Africa.

Mr. Rahman is a Fulbright scholar. He achieved a postgraduate degree in Comparative Legal System from Stockholm University. He had achieved LL.M., PhD and a diploma in journalism from the Friendship University, Moscow.
