Dr. Tania Haque has been appointed as an honorary member of the National Human Rights Commission by Honourable President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on 8 December 2022. Currently, she is a full-time Professor at the Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka, and the founding Director of the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Centre for Gender and Development Studies. After having graduation and post-graduation from the Department of Public Administration, University of Dhaka, the department nominated her for the Dutch fellowship to study at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) at The Hague - where she received her second Master’s degree. Also, she pursued her MA in Development Studies (specialization in Women, Gender and Development) at the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, The Netherlands. Her research for the MA Programme focused on the redistribution of work in the family. Dr. Tania achieved her PhD from the University of Dhaka, while her thesis was titled “Unpaid Care Work; Recognition or Redistribution”. Her dedication and enthusiasm on research is proven by her articles published in various journals until today. She has been working on women’s issues and concerns for over two decades, and has conducted numbers of research on diverse aspects of women’s lives. Her areas of specialization and interests include: Care economy, Gender based Violence, Feminization of Poverty and Empowerment. 

She was nominated as a member of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) secretariat for the term 2015-2018. Furthermore, she is involved and contributing for many domestic and international women’s organizations. Dr. Tania has the experience and expertise of working with several national and international organizations, such as, the UN WOMEN, World Vision, WHO, CPD, UNFPA, FES, USAID, ICDD, DFID-UK, ADB, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWCA), Ministry of Planning and many more. 

She holds various key membership and positions which includes- Advisor of National Inquiry Committee, Human Rights commission, Bangladesh, 2020-2023; External member of Sexual Harassment Committee of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad for the term 2021 to 2023, Bangladesh; Member of Selection Board for Recruitment of Lecturer and Assistant Professor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU), Bangladesh, 2021; Member of Selection Committee of Rokeya Chair, University Grants Commission, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 2021; Member of Governing Body of Akij College of Home Economics, 2020; and Member of Selection Board for recruitment of Lecturer and Assistant Professor, University of Dhaka since 2018. 

Her prime focus is to enhance her skills as a highly competent academician at national and international level, and help society as a whole through her aptitude.
